关于我们

App Inventor Foundation (https://appinventorfoundation.org) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that empowers people across the globe to create apps that improve their lives, uplift their communities, and change the world. App Inventor (https://appinventor.mit.edu/) is a free and open-source platform created at MIT and Google that helps enable anyone of any age, including those who may not think of themselves as coders, to create highly functional apps for real, effective change in their communities. We were founded in 2007 by Professor Hal Abelson at MIT and Mark Friedman at Google, and have since grown to 15 Million registered users across 195 countries, with 1 Million monthly active users. Having been incubated at MIT for the past decade by some of the best researchers, scientists, and engineers in the world, App Inventor is now expanding beyond an MIT research project into a global nonprofit organization.

UNESCO Chief of Section: Technology and AI in Education

?? Celebrate International Day of Digital Learning with UNESCO on March 19 2025! I look forward to moderating a Fireside Chat with two dynamic women leaders in digital learning: Natalie Lao, Executive Director of the App Inventor Foundation and Verna Lalbeharie, Executive Director of EdTech Hub, who will be taking the virtual floor in a global webinar: “Co-creating technologies for learning equity: Lessons from evidence and experience”. There are many situations where the use of technologies by teachers and education practitioners are not necessarily ‘transforming’ large scale education systems nor prompting ‘leapfrog’ gains in educational achievement, but rather supporting learning and schooling in subtle yet significant ways. We will explore where, how and under what conditions learning equity gains have been achieved, especially in challenging educational contexts.? ?? The webinar will take place from 12:30-14:30 CET ?? Registration for the webinar is available here: https://lnkd.in/dZGv2Y8r For more information regarding the event, including a detailed programme, please visit: https://lnkd.in/dYVMY4vv. For any further questions, please contact [email protected]

It was great to meet Dr. Juan Arratia—Professor, Founder, and President of the Scientific Caribbean Foundation—who was in town to receive the prestigious AAAS Lifetime Mentor Award! He will be funding the App Inventor Summer Immersion program (Puerto Rico Chapter), which will give high school students from under resourced communities the opportunity to conduct hands-on research at MIT using MIT App Inventor. We’re so excited to launch this program together and empower innovators globally! Congratulations again, Dr. Arratia! ???? #AppInventorFoundation #MITAppInventor

It was an incredible experience attending Computer Science Teachers Association Texas Chapters Conference for the first time and connecting with so many dedicated CS, AI, robotics, and STEM educators from across Texas! It was also a pleasure to reconnect with Yu Meng, who is a former App Inventor Teacher Excellence Awards winner. A highlight of the conference was the energetic keynote delivered by Jeanine Banks and Andrea Austin from Google who encouraged girls to explore CS early and showcased how AI is opening up new job opportunities for everyone. We’d like to thank everyone who joined and contributed to the thought-provoking discussion during our Ethical AI with App Inventor for Teachers workshop. We look forward to returning to Texas for WeTeach_CS this summer! ?? #AppInventorFoundation #MITAppInventor #TexasCSTAChapters2025

I'M HERE!!! #NeurIPS 2024!!! I just arrived at the Vancouver Convention Centre, and I couldn’t resist writing this post—the energy here is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. My journey to Vancouver was a bit of an adventure (flight delays, cancellations, layovers, and finally arriving), but even that added to the excitement. On the plane, I noticed so many fellow NeurIPS attendees (hints => poster tubes & university/company merch), and it struck me how amazing it is to be among some of the world’s brightest researchers in #AI and #ML, all gathered in one place. I’m super excited to share that I’m an accepted author at a NeurIPS 2024 Workshop and Affinity Event! Our paper, “Mitigating Bias in Queer Representation within Large Language Models: A Collaborative Agent Approach”—a collaborative work with my mentee Arya Somasundaram—has been accepted into the Queer In AI Workshop. I’ll be presenting this work during the poster session in West Ballroom D on Tuesday at 6 PM. If you’re at NeurIPS, feel free to swing by, check out my poster, or just have a chat! - Paper (arXiv): https://lnkd.in/gWG7gyt6 This paper for me marks a significant milestone in my research journey. While I’ve worked on so many independent and team research projects over the years, having this work recognized at a NeurIPS Workshop as purely high school authors is truly insane—especially considering the level of the other accepted authors and its double-blind peer review process. Beyond the acceptance itself, the journey—grinding through sleepless nights before the submission deadline, learning from failures, and continuously refining the work—has elevated my research to new heights. Even now, as I prepare submissions for other conferences, each attempt pushes my understanding and research capabilities further, and I feel like I'm at a totally different level now compared to a few months ago when I submitted this paper. However, with this growth also comes a deeper awareness of the long journey ahead and the gap between where I am now and the top-level researchers I aspire to become one day. Anyways => The thought of spending the entire week surrounded by cutting-edge ideas and passionate researchers feels almost surreal. I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone, talking about research, and soaking in the experience of NeurIPS. If you’re here and would like to chat or grab food/coffee, feel free to reach me at [email protected] or just find me in person—I’ll be around all week! FYI: My current research focuses include LLMs, multi-agent systems, RAG, trustworthy AI, and education, and I’m equally excited to be representing the App Inventor Foundation and App-In Club during this conference. Stay tuned for some exciting posts on the App-In Club socials, where I’ll share my perspective as an accepted workshop author. Huge thanks to NeurIPS and Queer In AI for the complimentary registration tickets! Here’s to an unforgettable week at NeurIPS 2024!
