?? Meet Fran Leahy – A True App State Advocate! ?? We’re thrilled to reintroduce Fran Leahy, a cherished alumna and part-time lecturer at Appalachian State University’s Hickory campus! Fran's journey from an App State student to a seasoned CPA is truly inspiring. ?? Education & Experience: BS in Accounting & Finance from Wofford College MS in Accounting from Appalachian State University, 1994 CPA for 33 years in Tennessee and North Carolina Fran’s impressive career spans over 25 years in public accounting, including internal auditor and accounting instructor roles. For the past decade, she has specialized in nonprofit tax services at KraftCPAs in Nashville, TN. Her deep commitment to nonprofit work and Form 990 expertise make her a valuable asset to her firm and the classroom. ?? Why App State? Fran believes in App State’s commitment to producing well-rounded accountants. With a track record of starting programs that are still impactful today, she’s excited to bring her real-world experience back to the university, helping shape the next generation of accounting professionals. ?? Outside the Classroom: Fran is an avid hiker, backpacker, and gardener. She co-maintains a 2.4-mile section of the Appalachian Trail and enjoys exploring new places, reading, and walking in her small town of Black Mountain, NC. Fran also cherishes time with her daughter, a fellow App State grad!
