Spotlight on Niv, our director of AI, who gave a talk to our R&D team today on the topic of fine-tuning SLMs. At the heart of Aporia stands our multiSLM agent, which involves many fine-tuned SLMs that power our AI guardrails. In the fight to get AI to be truly safe and reliable to use, it's essential to use guardrails that are not only extremely fast, but also very accurate at spotting violations. Our multiSLM engine provides both the latency and accuracy companies rely on when deploying their AI agents. But fine-tuning SLMs is not a simple process. We're constantly learning and sharing new knowledge with our team about the process to stay up to date.     “I just can’t figure out why it won’t follow basic instructions.” Aporia looked at over 2,000 posts from AI engineers on OpenAI’s forum and noticed a common theme: prompt engineering is really frustrating. Prompt engineering is necessary because AI often veers off-topic or hallucinates. Various techniques, such as zero-shot prompting and chain-of-thought prompting, can help, but the frustration is palpable on these forums.? Most prompt engineering posts end with a common sentiment - “I just can’t figure out why it won’t follow basic instructions.” Guardrails like those offered by Aporia exist for exactly this reason.
