How public does a founder need to be? Being part of the Forbes India Changemakers Podcast conversation was truly delightful and gave me a lot to chew on as someone who struggles with questions of how much and what all to share publicly. A little tangentially, my biggest takeaway was on how entrepreneurs can share their narratives. It was very inspiring to me to see how sincerely Ahana owns her mission and the clarity expressed in her narrative. As she shared, “Authenticity is the cornerstone of forging connections.” It was super refreshing to see Ahana own and normalize the entrepreneurial ‘Sell mode’ Ankur reminded me of a vital challenge - India is a trust-deficit nation. Building a brand here is about cultivating trust. And that brand for an entrepreneur can often come back to who they are - the USP is literally you. I’m still largely in the process of digesting and working on these thoughts but my increased attempts to connect with my people on social media stems from the inspiration I got from this panel. Do You Know What’s Really in Your Food? With our busy lives, it’s easy to grab convenient food options without thinking twice. But are we really paying attention to what’s inside? Recently, a front-page ad of a Lassi brand in a national newspaper caught my eye. It looked appealing, but there was no nutritional information in sight. This got me thinking: how much do we actually know about what we’re eating? In a recent conversation with my colleague Anoop Mittra, we talked about how changing lifestyles are also changing our eating habits. This chat made me rethink my own choices, and I realised how often we overlook what we’re actually putting into our bodies. As we rely more on packaged foods, it’s important to read and understand what we’re consuming. At Apnaklub, we encourage informed choices. Here’s a quick guide to help: Flip to the back—ingredients are listed by weight. If sugar or salt is in the top three, it’s high in the product. Sugar isn’t always labelled directly - check for names like high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, aspartame, or “evaporated cane juice.” Over 10g per serving is high sugar. Avoid items with artificial colours (e.g., Red 40, Yellow 5), artificial flavours, or trans fats (partially hydrogenated oils), as they may impact health. Nutrition info is per serving, not per pack. Eating the full pack may double or triple intake of calories, sugars, and fats—so check portion sizes. %DV shows nutrient contribution to a 2,000-calorie diet. 5% DV or less is low, 20% or more is high. Aim high for fibre, low for added sugars. Next time you pick up a snack, take a moment to flip it over, read the label, and see if it aligns with your health goals.
