APLU is excited to announce a new grant in partnership with six public universities to advance peer mentoring and drive #student success! The Mentorship for Academic & Personalized Student Success (MAPPS) initiative will support partner institutions in their efforts to improve technology-enabled peer mentorship models that address barriers to student success. APLU will collaborate with Northern Illinois University, Stony Brook University, Temple University, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Penn State Altoona, and Prairie View A&M University as they pilot new peer mentoring efforts, track impact, and refine programs. “Peer mentoring is a proven way to help students navigate the complexities and challenges of transitioning to, and progressing through, college. We’re excited to help institutions not only refine this work on their campuses and ultimately add to the evidence base for these efforts across the country,” said Karen Vignare, Vice President, Digital Transformation for Student Success. It’s no secret that public universities consistently offer the most affordable path to college. Since the 2014–15 school year, the cost of attending a public four-year university has fallen by 21 percent, before adjusting for inflation. https://lnkd.in/ebhddFVf

APLU, the Association of American Universities (AAU), and the American Council on Education have jointly filed suit in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts, along with a number of impacted research university co-plaintiffs, seeking to halt the The National Institutes of Health's proposed cut to life-saving medical research.

NIH slashing the reimbursement of research costs will slow and limit medical breakthroughs that cure cancer and address chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. Let there be no mistake: this is a direct and massive cut to lifesaving medical research. We urge the administration to reconsider this self-defeating action. https://lnkd.in/eQ3yfTFC

APLU is pleased to recognize Oklahoma State University (OSU) as the latest institution to receive the Innovation and Economic Prosperity Designation. The university has made strides to drive #innovation and development in the region through strong relationships with communities, businesses, and external stakeholders. As OSU pioneered technologies in aerospace, agriculture, and commercial manufacturing, it leveraged industry partnerships to bring new technologies to market while preparing graduates with the necessary skills to thrive in tomorrow’s workforce.
