The Biocontrol Coalition has submitted feedback to the European Commission’s consultation on the Single Market Strategy 2025, providing evidence on how the current regulatory framework affects the availability and market access of biocontrol products in the EU. Key points from the submission*: ?? No new biocontrol active ingredients approved in the past two years, with a net loss of eight since 2019. ?? Emergency Authorisations are being used more frequently and for longer durations due to the lack of alternatives. ?? Regulatory requirements result in long approval timelines of 8-10 years, creating challenges for SMEs. ?? EU-based biocontrol companies prioritize non-EU markets such as Brazil and the USA (2-3 years approval time). ??
