We need better threat mitigation training for schools and active shooter training for law enforcement if we want to see the situation in our schools improve. “A suspect is in custody and “casualties” have been reported following a shooting incident at Apalachee High School, according to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office. A large number of law enforcement officers responded to Apalachee High School in Barrow County shortly before 10:30 a.m. after reports of an active shooting prompted a lockdown, aerial footage from ANF’s First Alert Chopper shows. Dozens of officers can be seen on the ground, alongside ambulances and a medic helicopter. At least one person was loaded into the helicopter on a stretcher, and the students have been evacuated into the school’s stadium.” -Atlanta First News
Precisely why we need to be taking school, personal, and familly safety seriously. Many districts are struggling to find enough officers to place in schools, and with the rising threats from foreign gangs, our children need us to take their protection more seriously than ever. It was an honor to spend the day at the Valley View community center helping distribute emergency supplies to disaster relief crews for tornado victims. While serving our community members this Memorial Day, we are reminded of the brave men and women who sacrificed everything for our country.
