Partnering with The Bravery Lab, led by ASF's Executive Director Dr. Oyindamola Alicia Ijewere, MBA, PMP, we engaged 100 young girls in a day of mentorship, empowerment, and education, equipping them with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to shape their futures. This groundbreaking 7-week Women’s Business Development Program, held in the vibrant community of Yaba, Lagos, marks a significant milestone in our mission to empower women and foster economic growth. EmpowerHer: A Movement for Generational Change EmpowerHer is not just a program; it is a movement dedicated to creating legacies of empowerment. Our participants, equipped with essential skills in business development, financial literacy, and leadership, are now prepared to lead and innovate in their communities. Highlights of the EmpowerHer Cohort: Leadership Training: Empowering women to take on influential roles and drive community change. At age 54, Dr. Jemal J. Beale '92,'95, Major General (Ret.) NJSG, is the youngest member of the Kean Medallion Society. A well-decorated combat, Major General Beale was the first African American to serve as the Commissioner of Military and Veterans Affairs and the 32nd Adjutant General for the State of New Jersey under Governor Phil Murphy. He has made a legacy gift in gratitude for his Kean education and ROTC training which he believes set the stage for countless accomplishments over his lifetime.
