We are delighted to share news of the successful delivery of the first APEX Green Cities Training in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) on November 18-19, 2024. Hosted in partnership with IFC - International Finance Corporation’s LAC Upstream Infrastructure team, this training built on IFC’s 2022 signing of an Engagement Letter with the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley?to support Medellín, Colombia in preparing an assessment of low-carbon investment opportunities within the Climate Action Plan (CAP) for Medellín. Launched in May 2023, the resulting Climate Investment Opportunities Diagnostic (CIOD) leverages the APEX Green Cities app. The two-day training brought together 19 public sector representatives from Medellín, providing them with hands-on experience and knowledge to integrate APEX into projects in mobility, urban planning, waste, and finance sectors. Key Highlights of the Training: ? An overview of APEX Green Cities and its methodology ? Insights into Medellín’s CIOD ? Interactive case studies and baseline data exercises ? Certification of attendance for participants The program was a success, with 100% of survey respondents reporting enhanced skills and a positive experience, with all obtaining a certification of attendance signed by the APEX team. This marks a step forward in empowering Medellín’s efforts to transition toward a sustainable, low-carbon future. Special thanks to the Secretariat of Environment of Medellin (Ana Ligia Mora Martinez, Carlos Alberto Velasquez and Juan Esteban Monsalve ),?and Miguel Betancur?from Medellín's International Cooperation Office for their invaluable support and commitment to this initiative. #APEXMedellinCIOD #APEXMedellinCityPartnership #APEXgreencities #APEXCIOD #lowcarboncities #climatesmartcities #sustainablecities #greencities #greenfinance #sustainablefinance #climateinvestment #climatefinance Alcaldía de Medellín Lorraine Sugar, Adriana Díaz Robles, Ursula Blotte, Sahlla Abbasi, M.Eng, PMP, Cristina Cano Sokoloff
