关于我们

The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is a nationwide grassroots network dedicated to fighting Parkinson’s disease (PD) and works tirelessly to help the approximately one million with PD in the United States live life to the fullest in the face of this chronic, neurological disorder. Founded in 1961, APDA has raised and invested more than $252 million to provide outstanding patient services and educational programs, elevate public awareness about the disease, and support research designed to unlock the mysteries of PD and ultimately put an end to this disease. To join us in the fight against PD and to learn more about the support APDA provides nationally through our network of Chapters and Information & Referral (I&R) Centers, as well as our national Research Program and Centers for Advanced Research, please visit us at www.apdaparkinson.org.

  • Community support is incredibly important for anyone with Parkinson’s disease (PD), but sometimes women with PD lack sufficient support because they’re used to filling the caregiver role themselves. In a recent episode of Dr. Gilbert Hosts, Dr. Gilbert sat down with Dr. Jill Farmer and Jeanie Veith, an advocate and person with PD, to discuss how Parkinson’s disease presents in women and some of the unique social issues affecting women with PD. Jeanie Veith points out, “Women are often trained to be caregivers, and we have that role whether we are Parkinson’s patients or not…For those of us who are people with Parkinson’s and female, it’s sometimes difficult for our male family members to assume that role of caregiver because they haven’t learned how to do that.” Watch the full episode for answers to your questions about treatment options and solutions for women with PD, and don’t forget to tune into the next episode of Dr. Gilbert Hosts! ?? https://lnkd.in/ehk7EicV #Parkinsons #PDResearch #PDAwareness #ParkinsonsDisease #PDOptimism #WomensHistoryMonth #WHM #DrGilbertHosts
