This past Monday, Apalachee Center’s Crisis Services Team Leader Grayson Bidwell, Mobile Response Team (MRT) Counselor Robert Stewart and other staff gave informational presentations at our Leon County campus as part of Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), a week-long training for North Florida law enforcement teams! 🟡 Each of our presentations informed individuals on a variety of topics, including: how to manage and assist in a behavioral health crisis, mood disorders and identifiers, as well as different scenarios to consider when interacting with people who live with mental illness while on duty. Happy Art Therapy Awareness Day! 🖼️   Apalachee Center’s Expressive Arts Therapy program offers one of-a-kind therapy to our impatient and residential clients. Here are some of the thoughts from our own art therapists, Keilana and Jasmine!   “When a client is in a session with a supportive clinician, in a supportive, nonjudgmental space, they can put the essence of themselves into the product they are creating,” Keilana said. “Now they have tangible proof of what was once internal and have the opportunity to see it realized.” 💛   Our Art Therapy program helps our clients, whether children, teens or adults, with their mental health needs. We assist them with expressing themselves with or without words, reducing stress and anxiety and boosting self-confidence. We also help them improve their self-awareness and to express themselves more freely.   “Some people don’t know art therapy exists,” Jasmine said. “There are so many things that our clients aren’t able to say at first, but later on can with the help of art therapy.
