关于我们
Mission The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a national non-partisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office. APAICS programs focus on developing leadership, building public policy knowledge, and filling the political pipeline for Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders to pursue public office at the local, state, and federal levels. History APAICS was founded alongside the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) in 1994 by former Secretary Norman Y. Mineta. Originally founded as the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Institute (CAPACI), APAICS continues to support CAPAC by serving as a resource to Congress and promoting a politically active and civically engaged Asian Pacific American community. Partners APAICS partners with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) to offer several joint programs throughout the year. Participants learn about coalition building and develop a greater understanding of the needs and challenges faced by different underserved minority groups.

Undergraduate at Cornell University | Legislative Intern for United States Senate | APAICS Congressional Intern
Just over a week ago, I graduated from one of the most impactful programs on the Hill ?? Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting AANHPI participation and representation at all levels of the political process. During my time as an APAICS Congressional Intern, I’ve been able to draft memos, conduct legislative research, and attend HELP Committee hearings — an opportunity I never thought an aspiring Filipina-American from Stockton, CA would've thought to have. Whether it was meeting with staffers, diving into reproductive research, engaging with constituents, or watering the plants, each task helped me gain invaluable insights into the legislative process and the issues affecting our communities. ???? This internship has been an eye-opening experience, especially as it deepens my understanding of equitable representation and the unique challenges faced by AAPI communities. Without APAICS, I never would’ve imagined myself in a position like this, advocating for change and policy solutions that will make a difference for so many. ?? Thank you to Lan Diep and Thien Huynh for their unwavering guidance and mentorship throughout this program. A special shoutout to my amazing internship cohort, whose dedication and passion made this experience so rewarding. And to Janessa Reyes, our class speaker, who has been nothing but a symbol of perseverance and resilience—thank you for your kind words that’ll keep us moving forward. #APAICS #Legislation #CongressionalIntern #Capitol #Hilltern #PolicyandAdvocacy

?? The 2024 APAICS Fall Congressional and Office Interns have graduated from their respective programs. This talented cohort has made a lasting impact with their hard work, dedication, and fresh perspectives. It was a pleasure to hear Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28), Rep. Grace Meng (NY-06), and now Senator-Elect Andy Kim (NJ) give virtual remarks highlighting the interns in their offices. Special thank you to the class speaker, Janessa Reyes, whose inspiring words will carry this cohort forward. ?? Congrats all! We can’t wait to see all the great things you’ll accomplish in the future. ?? #APAICSLeads #APAICSInterns
