A MUST DOWNLOAD FOR ANY PLANNER This Journal of the American Planning Association article uses the City of Tallahassee as a subject to study the communications between planners and politicians and review what tactics worked. Florida State University researchers built a dynamic network model as a temporal exponential random graph model and adopted text-mining methods to examine email communication dynamics. They found that a more positive sentiment conveyed from email content was statistically significantly associated with a politician’s tendency to vote consistently with a planner’s recommendation. That’s a wrap on this year’s APA Florida Executive Committee Retreat. Thanks to our all volunteer board members and chapter leaders who spent two days helping us strategize for 2025 and beyond. Great things are happening and we are excited to share with the Florida planning community very soon! And a special thanks to Dave Clare for his expertise (and patience) in directing us to find our purpose, voice, and mission. #champions
