A.O. Reed is very proud of our relationship with NBC 7 San Diego as their preferred HVAC/ Plumbing service provider for over 10 years. In 2016, we were awarded the HVAC and plumbing scope of work at the NBC studio’s new location in Kearny Mesa. The project was a great success; we were awarded the building’s service contract upon completion and have been there ever since. Over the years, our service team has ensured?the client is satisfied and has the most updated systems for the building. The Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana replaced their rooftop package units. We replaced four units; three located on the 12th floor of the building and one on the 3rd floor. The units ranged from five tons to ten tons. In order to follow the schedule and undergo this replacement safely, efficiently, and effectively, our team hired a helicopter crew to lift the old units and replace them with the new units on the rooftops. A.O. Reed provided brand-new units, the associated ductwork, and curb adaptors. The units will serve the Orange County Sheriff’s Department communication room. Due to A.O. The IQHQ project was one for the books at A.O. Reed. This iconic project along San Diego’s waterfront allowed us to install unique and complex systems and equipment. The HVAC system included providing and installing multiple air handlers generating 130,000 cfm and weighing 49,630 pounds each. Our team fabricated and installed what SMACNA considers the largest ductwork ever fabricated, measuring 248” and 142”. The plumbing systems were also complex to provide future lab space with vacuum, compressed air, and nitrogen. The plumbing system also included the first grease interceptor ParkUSA tank on the West Coast. The IQHQ Research & Development District consists of a mixed-use life science campus with laboratory, office, and retail spaces. The campus is perfectly situated in the heart of the harbor, next to the USS Midway Museum, and surrounding downtown San Diego. The Wounded Warrior Project is a veterans’ service organization transforming how America’s injured veterans are empowered, employed, and engaged in our communities. At A.O. Reed, there are numerous former veterans at our company. We are proud of our military influence and ties. For the second year, A.O. Reed participated in the Carry Forward San Diego 5K. Employees brought their friends and family to walk on August 17th. The A.O. Reed squad came in second place, raising the most dollars at the event. A.O. Reed is celebrating 110 years of business! From starting as a small plumbing business in 1914 to being one of Southern California's most reputable mechanical contracting companies, we are grateful for our customers’ and employees’ support in continued success. To celebrate our anniversary, A.O. Reed hosted an Open House at our San Diego Headquarters. On Friday, August 16th, we opened the doors to hundreds of guests to showcase and celebrate A.O. Reed! We had booths displaying our different departments, shop tours at our plumbing/ pipe fitting and sheet metal shop, a photo booth, games, and live music. The event provided fun appetizers ranging from mini sliders to tater tot nachos! We had the Blonde Brothers Band play live music at our event. Our team wanted to pull out the red carpet for our guests and provided live demos of different items, including an in-wall plumbing system! The sheet metal and plumbing/pipe fitting shop tours allowed us to show A.O. Reed’s cutting-edge technologies and processes in the industry. We got to show off our laser cutter in our sheet metal shop and our gantry crane in our plumbing/pipe fitting shop. Our service team provided HVAC and plumbing service vans to be displayed so our customers could see a fully stocked service van. Some materials include a drain cleaning machine, a mainline locator, a mainline jetter, pressure gauges, vacuum pumps, and examples of small-diameter backflow devices. Our Open House was truly a time to celebrate and entertain our clients. After all, we wouldn’t have been able to celebrate this milestone without their support. A.O. Reed enjoyed showing our customers why we are the best mechanical contractor in Southern California. UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center is undergoing a 15-year plan to revitalize its campus for future success. The first phase started in November 2021 and will be completed by July 2025. The UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center Phase I project constructed a new 251,000-square-foot outpatient facility, including four stories above ground and two below ground. This design-assist project also constructed a 10-level parking structure providing 1,850 stalls.
