Heard about Verticon this week? We'll be there working with the community to advance air operations for disaster and emergency response as well as natural resource management.
I'm excited to be participating in my first Vertical Aviation International (formerly HAI) Verticon this week! I'll be a panel member on the "VAI Aerial Firefighting and Natural Resources Industry Advisory Council Meeting" sharing an industry perspective on UAS in the wildland fire and natural resource management domains. I'll also be providing some insight on the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Advanced Concepts for Emergency Response Operations (ACERO) project - the parent of Anzen Unmanned's Expeditionary BVLOS Infrastructure and UTM Airspace Assistant for Wildfire Response SBIR project - and the vision for coordinated and orchestrated air operations for disaster and emergency response. Great to see Tim Skutt present the considerations needed to enable airworthiness/type certification during the AUVSI XPONENTIAL workshop on “Path to Autonomy: Weatherproofing AAM through Testing and Validation for Scalable Operations” today. Tim gave a nice overview of the steps needed for airworthiness and how environmental testing fits in. In addition to Tim, thanks to Jamey Jacob for moderating and covering the key adverse weather considerations, Guilaume Catry for the importance of controlled wind/rain testing (enabled by WindShaper), and Scott Landolt for snow/ice and the nuances on how to make snow for weather testing. The slido questions prompted interesting insights.

We're excited to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration has published the public version of our UAS BAA final report! "Piloting Multiple, Simultaneous UAS BVLOS" is the next big step in scalable, commercially successful drone operations and we're honored to have been able to contribute to this advancement. With our project partners Asylon Robotics, NUAIR, and Purdue University, the project demonstrated a viable, safe, flexible, and scalable m:N (i.e., multi-UAS) framework that is now being introduced into standardization efforts.
