UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge

The 2024 UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge raised record $1.5 million for critical cancer research. Every dollar raised at the eighth annual community event on Oct. 5 will drive pioneering studies on cancer prevention, treatment and cures at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. “Breaking fundraising and participation records underscores the incredible dedication of our community in the fight against cancer,” said event founder Dr. Richard A. When Dr. Robert Bristow recruited me to his team, the Ovary Achievers, in 2022, I was lying in a hospital bed, just two days post-op. He had recently delivered the news that I had cancer. His intuition had been right all along, and he somehow knew I needed to stay action-oriented, even in the midst of such a difficult moment. Despite being laid up in a hospital bed with a nearly foot-long incision and reliant on a pain pump, he understood that I would want to be involved in a positive, impactful way. As a patient, he knew exactly what I needed, in more ways than one. This year, thanks to so many of you, we've crushed every fundraising goal.
