This strategic addition will help Anthro accelerate its mission to develop and scale next generation electrolyte technologies that redefine what is possible with lithium-ion batteries. The company continues to push the boundaries of higher energy density, improved safety, and novel form factors. Ralph Schmitt brings over 30 years of leadership experience in semiconductor and advanced technology companies including Cypress Semiconductor, Broadcom/PLXTechnology and Toshiba/OCZ Technology. In directly applicable markets, he was CCO of the advance silicon anode battery company, Enovix Corporation. Most recently he was the CEO of VulcanForms, Inc., a digital additive manufacturing (AM) company that massively scaled production in its US based manufacturing locations. “I am very excited to be part of a battery technology revolution that is being driven by Anthro Energy. We are excited to announce that Anthro has been selected for a $24.9M grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to accelerate the scale up of our advanced electrolytes! This grant is part of the DOE's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and is an important step to strengthen the U.S. supply chain for advanced battery materials. The funding is reflective of Anthro’s rapid commercial and technical progress to-date, and enables us to quickly advance towards our goal of large-scale production and commercialization. Anthro develops game-changing electrolyte technology to redefine battery innovation. Anthro's technology unlocks enhanced safety and stability, unprecedented performance, and radically new battery form factors. The planned facility is located in Louisville Kentucky. Anthro is looking forward to working closely with the DOE and the Louisville community to create the first commercial scale, U.S. owned and operated advanced electrolyte production facility. Today,?Anthro?is excited to announce the close of our $20M Series A round! The round was led by Collaborative Fund with significant participation from existing investors including Union Square Ventures, Voyager Ventures, and Emerson Collective. Energy Revolution Ventures, Nor'easter Ventures, Ultratech Capital Partners, Overlap Holdings, and others also participated in the financing. We are grateful for support from such a wonderful group of investors. The Series A follows an impressive range of technical and commercial accomplishments over the past year. Notably, cells containing Anthro’s advanced polymer electrolyte recently passed external UN 38.3 testing, a rigorous certification standard for safe transport of lithium-ion batteries. This funding supports Anthro’s vision to solve some of the hardest challenges facing the future of energy storage. We are rapidly advancing our material technology to create a scalable way to solve the tradeoff between energy density and safety in lithium-ion batteries. Our technology will enable new battery chemistries and new battery form factors to accelerate the electrification of everything. We plan to use the new funding to build a pilot facility in the Bay Area, scale our technology, and grow our team.
