#Videoconferencing has become the prime business?communication tool, and users have come to expect better #video and #audio performance from their devices. Is there an echo during the call? Is the speaker’s voice intelligible? Can multiple people express themselves at the same time and be heard, or are their voices cut? Is the background noise well-filtered? So many challenges that must be met.

That is why #DXOMARK has developed a dedicated Audio protocol for universal communication. In addition to?evaluating playback, sound capture, and full duplex audio, the protocol evaluates these features in three use cases:

• #Videocall : one or two people facing the device, with a focus on microphone directivity, evaluating voice quality, intelligibility and noise reduction
• Meeting: multiple people in a meeting room,?with a focus on microphone omnidirectivity, evaluating voice quality, intelligibility and noise reduction
• #Multimedia : evaluation of music, movies and games listening experience, with a focus on?tonal# balance, spatial and dynamic performance

Using a set of objective and #perceptualevaluations , the score is then adapted to each device tested, whether it’s a #webcam , a speakerphone, a soundbar, or a #laptop , by applying different weights to the three use cases.
