Breaking news: LCRA is widening its communications capabilities with additional spectrum licenses from Anterix! Anterix is proud to announce that LCRA has contracted to purchase additional #900MHz wireless broadband licenses from Anterix, extending LCRA’s ability to support future growth in Texas. This agreement builds upon LCRA’s initial purchase of 900 MHz licenses from Anterix announced in April 2023. LCRA’s new 900 MHz broadband licenses will expand its LTE network coverage to 34 additional counties in Texas, in addition to the 68 counties covered by the earlier agreement. Created by the Texas legislature in 1934, LCRA manages the lower 600 miles of the Texas Colorado River, which provides water to more than 1.4 million people, and is one of the largest public power providers in Texas, supplying power to more than 30 retail electric cooperatives and municipalities. "Private LTE provides an added layer of security," Evergy Vice President of Distribution Ryan Mulvany said yesterday during the NARUC Winter Policy Summit in Washington, DC. Evergy's "private broadband network is the cheaper option for us now, and beneficial for the future," he added. ? Mulvany was joined by Anterix Chief Regulatory and Corporate Communications Officer Chris Guttman-McCabe at a panel moderated by Iowa Utilities Commission Chair the Hon. Erik M. Helland.
