Join us in honoring the 10th Anniversary of the Ice Bucket Challenge with a chance to win tickets to the Game Changer Gala, Super Bowl week in New Orleans! In 2014, Pete Frates and Pat Quinn sparked a viral ALS fundraising campaign by encouraging people to pour ice on themselves, donate, and then challenge others to do the same. 10 years later, instead of asking people to cover themselves in ice, we are challenging people to give $50 "ice cubes" for an opportunity to WIN: Two tickets and a hotel stay for the 2025 Game Changer Gala, February 4-5, 2025. For Gala details: www.GameChangerGala.com We are extending the campaign for 30 days, so grab your chance to win at the link below until September 28th! https://lnkd.in/ggegzB4T

Although we know there are many options for Voice Banking, Answer ALS and the Voice Keeper teamed up to repurpose our existing iPhone voice collection app for research into a voice banking app for people with ALS at no cost. Additional functionality is being added for those who utilize the app to participate in more in-home research, including the use of their voice samples. Meanwhile, the once-dormant app can now provide ai generated voices for those with ALS and who use a variety of communication devices. https://lnkd.in/gu56BjFu

Tonight, Steve Gleason was awarded an ESPY, the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage. Beautiful recognition of his work as an NFL player, father, husband and leader, working to provide technology to people with ALS and find a cure to the disease. Congratulations Steve. We are so proud to work with you, Team Gleason Foundation and ANSWER ALS. Thank you for inspiring Microsoft, pushing us to advance #accessibility to empower people with ALS (pALS). And for teaching us all such important life lessons along the way. Enjoy this well-deserved recognition my friend. Onwards ?? ?? Award speech: https://lnkd.in/gtvMRk2q ?? We are so grateful for this community of researchers, advocates, and people living with ALS who choose to come together to help find solutions to the disease, as well as other diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, to name a few. #Together to #AnswerALS #NotImpossible
We want to thank everyone who attended and spoke at the inaugural IgNight event in Washington, DC, one week ago today. It was exciting to have Steve Gleason there for a book signing of A Life Impossible and his reading using his new AI voice. Steve was introduced by the always entertaining, James Carville. A huge thanks to speakers Fred Humphries, Farhad Imam, Jeffrey Rothstein, Emily Baxi, Klaus Romero, and moderator extraordinaire Milan Karol. Thanks also to Stefan Beese for your incredible design and patience and Kissy Black for her help in coordinating. The theme of the event was "the spark when science, creativity, and technology converge." Poet, Ephraim Nehemiah, said it best when he performed and ended with these words: "...They say if you rub your hands together fast enough, you can conduct your own heat The spark we need Is in the palm of our hands Bridging the gap between impossible and possible Is right here if we would just be willing To reach for it." A big thanks to sponsors: Jones Walker LLP, Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Critical Path Institute (C-Path), Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins, AcuraStem, and Scientific American #ImpossibleIsJustAWord #Together

The momentum is continuing with samples and data out of ANSWER ALS and its consortium of partners. The results suggest that iPSC-derived motor neurons recapitulate important disease-relevant epigenomic changes. Read more below.

More news as a result of using the cells of nearly 400 Answer ALS participants. "Working with the Answer ALS consortium, a team of MIT researchers has analyzed epigenetic modifications — tags that determine which genes are turned on in a cell — in motor neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem (IPS) cells from 380 ALS patients. This analysis revealed a strong differential signal associated with a known subtype of ALS, and about 30 locations with modifications that appear to be linked to rates of disease progression in ALS patients. The findings may help scientists develop new treatments that are targeted to patients with certain genetic risk factors." Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g3GhCDFT #Together to #AnswerALS

Huge congrats to Answer ALS Investigator, Jennifer Van Eyk, PhD, for receiving the Catherine E. Costello Award for Exemplary Achievements in Proteomics from US HUPO. The Catherine E. Costello Award for Exemplary Achievements in Proteomics recognizes an individual who has made significant discoveries and accomplished scientific achievements in the field of proteomics. We are so proud of not only Jenny's recognition, but mostly for her work to help us advance answers to ALS. Well done, Jenny! https://lnkd.in/g_gecP_w
