This week, we celebrated our Environmental Services (EVS) team, whose tireless efforts keep our hospital clean, safe, and welcoming for all. From preventing infections to creating a comfortable environment, their work is essential to our daily operations. A huge thank you to our EVS staff for all that you do! ??

It is with a heavy heart that Anna Jaques Hospital share the news of the passing of Dr. Ron Freid, who died on August 30th, 2024. Dr. Freid was a beloved member of the AJH community, having spent the last 20 years working in our Emergency Department. Dr. Freid earned his degree in osteopathic medicine from the University of New England College of Medicine. He completed his medical residency in Emergency Medicine at Fort Hood, Texas and went on to serve his country as a captain in the US Army. Following this achievement, Ron served as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Anna Jaques Hospital. It is hard to overstate Dr. Freid's impact on emergency medicine at Anna Jaques Hospital over the last 20 years. He was GNEP President, multiple-time Chief of Emergency Medicine, and a father figure to many in the ED. Dr. Freid loved to teach and mentored many medical professionals throughout the years. Dr. Siva and Michelle Herrara, PA, had the pleasure of meeting with Ben Norton, our latest scholarship recipient. Ben, who will be pursuing Biomedical Engineering at Dartmouth College this fall, was awarded a scholarship by the AJH Medical Staff. During his visit, Ben got an exclusive tour of the hospital, guided by Dr. Siva and Michelle. We wish him the best of luck on his journey ahead!

This award was given in recognition of the strong collaboration between AJH Birth Center and women’s health care as well as the work our DEI group has done in trauma informed care training and gender inclusivity.
