关于我们
The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra has been a part of Ann Arbor's cultural life for over 90 years. It was founded as a community orchestra in 1928 by five musically-inclined members of the local Methodist Church, and has since grown to become a main player in Ann Arbor's world of art and culture. Since 1986 the A2SO has been a fully professional orchestra, first under the baton of Carl St. Clair, Sam Wong, and then Arie Lipsky. In June 2022, the A2SO announced the appointment of Earl Lee as its next Music Director, ushering in a new era of world-class music making as the orchestra presents its 2022-23 concert season. The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra is passionately committed to enriching the culture of the region. We strive to attract, inspire and educate the most diverse audience possible, foster a growing appreciation for excellent music and regional talent, and provide imaginative programming through community involvement.

Freude—joy—the feeling that best describes our electrifying 23/24 Season Finale performance on Saturday night! John Adams’ The Wound-Dresser and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 took center stage at Hill Auditorium, as Music Director Earl Lee conducted the A2SO, UMS (University Musical Society) Choral Union, and soloists Julie Adams (soprano), Jazimina MacNeil (mezzo-soprano), Cesar Andres Parre?o (tenor), and Joseph Parrish (bass-baritone). We are immensely grateful to the incredible musicians, volunteers, stage crew, Hill personnel, and those whose hard work and dedication made Saturday's concert a success. Special thanks to UMS Choral Union Music Director Scott Hanoian, the Martin Family Foundation for their concert sponsorship, the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Finally, we thank you—our audience members—who supported the A2SO and our mission of bringing you musical joy throughout the 23/24 season.
