WE’VE GOT EXCITING NEWS! Anise Health is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $600K Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I grant from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)! With a grant success rate of only 15%, this achievement marks a major step forward for us, especially considering that less than 0.2% of the NIH’s budget over the past 30 years has been dedicated to research focused on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander health. In partnership with Dr. Brian TaeHyuk Keum at Boston College and Dr. Ummul Kathawalla, Ph.D. , we will use this funding to develop innovative digital tools and clinically-validated interventions that address the unique cultural stressors often experienced by Asian Americans in mental health treatment, such as bicultural tension and race-based trauma. We are dedicated to transforming mental health care by providing treatments and resources that resonate with the diverse backgrounds and experiences of Asian Americans. This grant not only brings us closer to that vision, but also highlights the importance of advancing mental health for ALL underserved communities. Thank you to everyone who has played a role in getting us to this milestone and will be a part of the exciting work to come! ?? Did you know? In a recent survey, three out of four employees (74%) reported negative mental health at work. And among Asian men and women, <20% feel a sense of belonging in the workplace, according to a Bain & Company study. The reality is that work can be a LOT, whether it's tight deadlines, endless meetings, or the constant juggling act with other parts of your life. And when subjected to the 'model minority bias', our mental health struggles can be undermined, ignored, and left out of the conversation. We don't always admit it, but most of us could use some help! We couldn't be happier to announce on this #WorldMentalHealthDay that we are partnering up with NextShark to do just that - reach more of the Asian community in need of culturally responsive mental health support for life's daily challenges. "As part of our mission at NextShark, we are dedicated to supporting Asian-founded businesses that not only deliver exceptional services but also foster positive social change," said Benny Luo, CEO of NextShark. "Anise Health is a clear leader in creating mental health solutions that resonate with our community. We are excited to work alongside them to amplify their message and provide greater access to these vital resources."
