Lets debunk some Vaccine Myths? ??Do Vaccines make my pet sick? Vaccines are generally very safe for pets. The advantages they provide far exceed any potential risks. In fact, vaccines are now safer than they have ever been, with the rate of adverse reactions dropping by nearly 50% in the past 15 years. ??Vaccines are for outdoor animals only In the United States, nearly every state mandates rabies vaccinations for both dogs and cats, regardless of their indoor lifestyle. It's also advisable to vaccinate cats, even if they never go outside. ??Senior animals don't need vaccines. Pets that have received all their vaccinations during their lifetime have a minimal chance of contracting the diseases they were immunized against. However, "minimal" does not equate to "zero" risk. So it's recommended to vaccinate our senior pet. Keeping our animals safe with prevention methods like vaccines is the greatest protection we can offer them. ?? #PetVaccination #VeterinaryMedicine #AnimalWellness

Chewable medication for animals. ?? Though not all medical conditions have chewable alternatives, it can make administering medications much easier. For our fussy patients that are much more likely to spit out their medications, chewable tablets are easily consumed, much less stress, and a money saver as you don't need to buy pill pockets or other treats. ?? We know pilling your animal is hard, but sourcing the best care is a part of the journey you can take with you Vet. #AnimalHealth #ChewableMedication #PetMedication

Knowing if your animal has worms is a vital part of wellness visits when visiting the Vet. Dogs of any age, breed, size, can have worms. Some worms are Zoonotic, meaning they can pass from animal to Human. Though this sounds scary, it is very easy to treat and prevent. Bringing in a stool sample. This is the best way to diagnose intestinal worms, different worms have different treatments, so diagnosis of the correct parasite the the fastest way to get rid of them! Heart Worm Test. Though Heart Worms can't be diagnosed with a stool sample, it instead requires a blood draw to be performed and a test to be ran for diagnosis. All infections of worms require medicated treatment and need to be dealt with sooner rather than later, as they can lead to a bigger problem. Remember, when booking your wellness visit, bring a fecal sample!?? #ParasitePrevention #WormsInDogs #FecalSample

Today is World Spay Day! ?? Having your pet spayed or neutered is part of responsible pet ownership. Not only are these procedures helpful in preventing animal overpopulation, but they also prevent a number of health and behavioral problems for your pet. For instance, spaying a female cat or dog can prevent dangerous uterine infections, while neutering a male can prevent testicular cancer if done before 6 months of age. Animal Medical Center of Mid-America is dedicated to helping pet owners by offering low-cost spay/neuter programs. We believe every pet should have a chance to live a long, happy and healthy life, and spaying and neutering is a great place to start! ?? Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gDBwv3xi
