Yesterday the City Council passed a modified City of Yes proposal out of committee, that included many of ANHD's recommendations, such as: ? Deeper affordability ? Affordability across all NYC neighborhoods ? Affordable housing investments ? Tenant protections ? Infrastructure improvements Though not perfect, this package really is a holistic approach to housing that centers affordability, and we're committed to working with the Council to get it to the finish line. #NYCHousing #Affordability #HousingJustice #ZoningReform #PlanForEquity #CityofYes

The Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development (ANHD) has released its 2024 report on housing affordability threats across New York City, with striking findings for Lower Manhattan: - Income Disparity: Residents need to earn $217,442 to live comparably to the average NYC household income of $133,400. - Rent Burden: 37.5% of residents pay 30% or more of their income towards rent. - Affordable Housing Loss: 780 subsidized units will lose protections by 2028, outpacing the 400 new affordable units planned. - Limited New Affordable Housing: Only 21 new deeply affordable units were added in the past year. These statistics underscore the urgent need for comprehensive affordable housing strategies in high-cost urban areas. As community development professionals, how can we address these challenges and ensure equitable access to housing? Read ANHD's full report to gain insights into housing affordability trends across NYC neighborhoods and join the discussion on innovative solutions. https://buff.ly/48An54e #AffordableHousing #UrbanPlanning #CommunityDevelopment #HousingPolicy #NYCRealEstate
