Last week we hosted investors and analysts on a comprehensive tour of the Sukari mine in Egypt. AngloGold Ashanti became operator of the mine, which it holds in partnership with the Government of Egypt, in November last year when it completed the takeover of Centamin plc. The two-day investor tour took in the underground and open pit mines, the processing plant and the core shed. Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources who talked about the Ministry’s strategy to enhance investment in the Egyptian mining sector. Sukari is a large-scale, modern gold mine comprising a low-cost bulk tonnage open-pit mine and high-grade underground mining operations in Egypt’s Eastern Desert, close to the Red Sea.?It brings a new Tier One asset into the AngloGold Ashanti portfolio. The integration process is well advanced with optimization projects underway. Sukari is forecast to produce between 455,000-495,000 oz in 2025.

This month AngloGold Ashanti Brasil reinforced the company’s commitment to sustainable development and the well-being of the communities where it operates, with the launch of a new institute and a social investment of R$13 million for 2025. The AngloGold Ashanti Brazil Institute marks the beginning of a new chapter in the company’s 190 years of operations in the country and will support the empowerment of people and communities to build a sustainable legacy for future generations.
