??"Impulsando Voluntades", una iniciativa de Anglo American Foundation en alianza con IKIGAI Laboratorio Social , que busca contribuir al desarrollo del voluntariado juvenil en Arequipa.???? Verónica Melzi eres una gran referente del ecosistema. Gracias por crear este espacio de impacto que logró conectar y articular a las juventudes con un mismo propósito. ??En "Impulsando Voluntades" se abordó el empoderamiento juvenil a través de tres componentes clave: participación cívica, salud mental y mentalidad emprendedora. ??Este evento se realizó durante dos días, reuniendo a más de 60 representantes de diferentes organizaciones sociales. ??Tuve el privilegio de coincidir con mis mentores, amigos y amigas gestores del ecosistema del voluntariado, quienes tuvieron una destacada participación como panelistas en este espacio: Diana Crousillat, Oscar Málaga y Antonio Herrera Cabanillas. ????Asimismo, gracias a mi equipo de la Red Internacional de Jóvenes Empoderados de Arequipa, con quienes pude reunirme, compartir estos momentos juntos y compartir risas. ????????????Mi admiración y orgullo por ustedes: Lisbeth Diana Colque Arotaype,Kelly Llahuilla Ugarte y HUBER JOEL HUACANI SUCASACA espero volver a reencontrarnos en otro espacio.???? #ImpulsandoVoluntades #EmpoderamientoJuvenil #JovenesporlosODS #Arequipa

Last week, we had the privilege of meeting young reporters from Radio Workshop South Africa—natural storytellers from nearby townships whose voices often echo across Joburg's radio waves and podcasts. Graciously hosted by our friends at Nando's South Africa, these talented young people shared what it’s like to grow up in #SouthAfrica during an age defined by technology, economic uncertainty, and the climate crisis. They spoke candidly about the challenges they face—mental health struggles, the weight of generational expectations—and their determination to carve out a better future. Amid these heartfelt conversations, their resilience and #GenZ humour shone, a testament to the strength of South Africa’s youth. One of the day’s highlights came from Mzwandile Ngubeni, CEO of Mazotech and Manager of Heatwave, Nando’s internal radio station. He welcomed the young storytellers into his radio booth, offering individual advice on the craft of storytelling and the unifying power of music. His wisdom left a mark: "If you are not your authentic self, the audience knows." It was a powerful reminder of how mentorship can ignite possibility, giving young people the tools and confidence to amplify their voices and shape their futures. Our ReCha launch event provided a closer look at how ReCha is transforming the waste economy and supporting local livelihoods. The session opened with Marlon discussing the RLabs and ReCha models, setting the stage for engaging discussions on ReCha’s mission and impact. The first of two panel discussions featured ReCha’s partners and investors - Anglo American Foundation, Nedbank, and E-Squared - who shared insights on their investment in ReCha and the value they see in its vision. In the second panel, local Recycling Champions shared how ReCha has positively impacted their communities. They spoke about what motivated them to establish their own ReChas and discussed changes they hope to see in the recycling landscape. Desde que me comencé a involucrar en el mundo del desarrollo, el #voluntariado siempre ha sido parte de mi vida, ya sea porque me tocaba organizar a mí las actividades de voluntariado, planificar estrategias o ser una voluntaria más. El poder del voluntariado es inmenso. Nos permite vincularnos y aprender de realidades diferentes practicando la empatía. Nos impulsa a trabajar muchas veces en equipo y resolver retos con agilidad. Y sobre todo, nos permite sentir que somos parte de un movimiento, nos permite vivir en comunidad. Estoy tan entusiasmada por el Encuentro #ImpulsandoVoluntades que tendremos en Arequipa el próximo lunes y martes. Creo que será un primer espacio para conectar, aprender y crear y así seguir impulsando la fuerza del voluntariado. Con IKIGAI Laboratorio Social venimos trabajando desde Anglo American Foundation para impulsar el voluntariado juvenil en Arequipa y creo que éste será un excelente punto de partida. Los esperamos para inspirarnos, sumar y potenciar nuestro impacto!

Living in London, I’m often asked if I’d ever return to South Africa. While London is where I love being now, South Africa will always be?home. As the colder months settle in, it’s especially hard not to feel homesick—missing family, the familiar warmth, and, of course, the sunshine. Today, I had the bittersweet privilege of attending a morning event hosted by the Africa College Foundation (MII U.K.) entitled “Education Town: Impact Investment & Exponential Philanthropy Opportunities,” featuring Taddy Blecher, founder of the Maharishi Invincibility Institute, and Michael Mapstone, CEO of the Anglo American Foundation. Walking into a room filled with fellow South Africans, all so deeply passionate about creating a thriving South Africa, was incredibly moving. ???? Despite the stark challenges South Africa faces—vast inequality and high unemployment—it was a light to hear about the promise, hope, and future that conscious investment in education can bring. I truly resonated with the energy and hope in the room, shared by so many who believe in South Africa’s potential. The Anglo American Foundation together with the Africa College Foundation (MII U.K.) Maharishi Invincibility Institute, are making a profound impact by focusing on consciousness-based education, which emphasizes self-improvement, growth, and resilience. This approach doesn’t just equip young people with skills; it fosters inner strength and a mindset of continuous growth, empowering youth to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. This is about education far broader than what occurs in the class room. As a South African non-profit founder, this mission is close to my heart. Conscious-based education has the power to transform lives by fostering both academic success and personal growth. The need to empower, educate, and uplift young people is more pressing than ever, and what’s being achieved in our South African "Education Town" is something that should be accessible to all. #ImpactInvestment #ConsciousBasedEducation
