It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself, so here’s a quick reintroduction! I’m Angie Mangino, an accomplished author and freelance journalist with a deep passion for investigative reporting. Previously, I contributed to the Staten Island Register weekly newspaper, delivering compelling, thoroughly researched stories to readers. In 2013, I proudly became a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), marking a significant milestone in my professional journey. With my extensive experience, I also provide manuscript critiques to fellow authors and meticulous copy editing services, helping writers polish their work to perfection. One of my proudest accomplishments is the publication of my book, “17th Century Tottenville” a deep dive into the history of Tottenville on Staten Island in New York. My dedication to preserving this community’s rich heritage earned me recognition and support from the Council on the Arts & Humanities Staten Island through a grant in 1999, leading to interactive workshops that deeply engaged the community. This effort was further supported in 2000 by the New York Public Library, which hosted another successful workshop at their Tottenville Branch. My commitment and contributions to local history were honored in 2002 when I was recognized as a Staten Island Woman in History by the New York State Assembly. My work has also been highlighted through various media outlets, including an interview on the 50 Plus show on Community TV and a feature in Gabe Pressman’s report on Tottenville for WNBC. I continue to write and publish across various online and print platforms, contributing thought-provoking essays, insightful book reviews, and articles on diverse subjects. Let’s connect and continue preserving and sharing meaningful stories! #AuthorLife #FreelanceJournalist #WritingServices #PublishedAuthor #BookReviews #Anthologies #AcademicBook #StatenIsland #NYC #AuthorAchievements #Community #PreservingHistory #NY

Have you ever read this one?
?? Did you know that Ezra Jack Keats’ classic 'The Snowy Day' is one of the most checked out books in the history of NYPL? In print and in the Library’s catalog continuously since 1962, this charming, beautifully illustrated tale of a child enjoying the magic that snow brings to his city is one of the top circulated books every year, across all neighborhoods we serve. The story is available in a multitude of languages and is both a Caldecott Medal winner and one of the earliest examples of diversity in children’s books. American writer and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats was born on this day in 1916.
