"I took a job that terrified me, and that changed everything." Angie Hicks wasn't looking to have her name on a company. She wasn't even looking to start a company. The 20-something was fine at the prospect of working somewhere she felt comfortable. And then along came Bill Oesterle. "'Angie, I have an opportunity for you," Hicks recalls that fateful call for Catalyst. "Your parents are going to absolutely hate it. I think we should start a business.'" Angie's List — now Angi — is a powerhouse service matching trusted trades like electricians and plumbers with homeowners in need. But it started small and might not have started at all if Hicks hadn't taken a chance on herself. "There's so much opportunity when you're in your 20s," Hicks said. "Even if you're not a risk taker, that particular time in your life, it's a great time to explore, and in the end, it could lead to something great."
