More than just a ceremony, this event symbolized progress and opportunity. At ACI, we know that Black History is woven into the very foundation of our mission—from empowering underrepresented communities to creating pathways to sustainable careers. Every graduate represents the future of construction, sustainability, and economic mobility. Spent Monday AM at NYC Employment and Training Coalition (NYCETC)'s Workforce Development Agenda Release & Policy Forum. Thanks to Gregory J Morris, MPA for his leadership and boundless energy and Stephanie Birmingham for her flawless event execution. So great to see so many colleagues committed to moving the ball forward in unsettled times. Investment in a well funded workforce development system should be a universal value -- no matter what your political stripe. It betters individuals, corporations, and our city, state and nation as a whole. It should bring us together ... but nothing goes without saying. Let's all commit to making the case.

Good evening my Virtual Coworkers!!! I don’t know about you but it has been an amazingly busy day. But before we completely end our day I want to remind you all that we at Andromeda Community Initiative will be holding an Info Session so you and all of your clients have to chance to learn about our Green Construction Training Program. Our next cohort will be starting March 10th!!! So we are hoping to add a number of all your students/clients to the roster. If you have any questions or would like for us to do an in person info session at your site, just reach out to me and we can make it happen. I look forward to working with you all and your clients in the really near future.

Today... I'm very grateful for the NYC Employment and Training Coalition (NYCETC). They held their Workforce Development Agenda Release & Policy Forum today, with coffee! And delightful blueberry chia pudding, I might add. It was fantastic. It was just what I needed. Mentally, emotionally, nutritionally, communally, and "inspirationally." I heard from and met some great people. The first shout-out goes to Stephanie Birmingham, Director of Community and Operations at NYCETC. She puts on a well-oiled event. She personally greeted me when I arrived, even though we've never met in person! ?? Then I met Beth Offenbacker, who helps run and build awareness for NYSERDA programs that drive workforce development in climate. One standout example? A program that literally and liberally supplements wages for people entering or upskilling in green jobs—removing financial barriers to a sustainable career. ?? Let's go! David Nidus, at Andromeda Community Initiative develops and delivers programs to people that need work the most. Training them with critical and lifelong skills like masonry and HVAC. ?? The main agenda included Gregory J Morris, MPA giving a rousing and impassioned talk outlining NYCETC’s workforce strategies and action plans. One key focus? Training and skills development that directly connect to economic mobility. Maria Lizardo led a powerful fireside chat with Teresa Gonzalez reminding us that lobbying isn’t a bad word—it’s about building relationships with elected officials when we connect our values and needs to the needs of our communities. Maria, meanwhile, is traveling with 40 people to Albany to make the needs of Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) and her members heard! There was so much more! Incredible, intelligent, dedicated, and powerful people doing the work that needs to be done. Thank you, to all of you! Again, it was just what I needed!
