Last Friday, ACI's Executive Director met with U.S. Congressman Ritchie Torres at a Gotham Government Relations event, joined by our partner, The Skyline Charitable Foundation! ?? We had a fantastic time sharing the impact of ACI’s workforce development programs, which support New Yorkers on their career paths. With over 25% of our participants coming from the Bronx, it’s essential for us to stay connected with local leaders and keep Bronx residents' needs front and center. Andriana V. "More than 3.3 million people work in the clean energy industry and the number is growing fast." 'These types of workers are absolutely and desperately needed right now, and organizations that can train them up are in high demand,' said Bob Keefe, executive director of E2, a nonpartisan business group that advocates for clean energy. 'The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, with its tax credits for heat pumps, solar panels and clean energy manufacturing incentives, is expected to create more than 109,000 new jobs,' Keefe said." Here's an article that outlines the voluminous opportunities in creating pathways for people (especially in underserved populations) to tap into the "green collar" workforce. The Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) appears to be at the forefront of this, in Philadelphia. Much like what we're doing at Andromeda Community Initiative, in collaboration with NYSERDA, here in NYC.
