Closing out Women in Construction week strong by highlighting Carmen Oliva. Carmen is a Laborer here at APC, she has can-do attitude and willingness to jump in anywhere needed! Carmen's advice for women considering a career in construction: “My advice would be that it’s going to be building confidence in your skills, actively seeking mentorship, not being afraid to ask questions, embracing challenges as learning opportunities, speaking up with your opinions, and focusing on your strengths while addressing weaknesses; remember that you bring value to the team and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, as the construction field is open to all and offers endless opportunities. Be your own best advocate people (including yourself) sometimes make inaccurate assumptions about you that may have ramifications for your professional life. We are excited to share that Audrey May, a local high school Senior, spent a day earlier this week shadowing APC's Site Division Project Manager, Lacee Beasley, gaining valuable insights into the world of Construction and getting a firsthand look at what a career in this field could look like.
