Although composting is undoubtedly a positive alternative to our waste being discarded in landfills, recycled organics from composting still contribute toward our greenhouse gas emissions through producing measurable amounts methane. While the output of methane from composting is much less than that of landfilling, jumping straight to transforming food waste into fertilizer means missing out on the opportunity to further reduce emissions and our environmental footprint. Rendering serves as a more sustainable solution to handling food waste, by safely recycling animal by-products into a wide variety of new material, effectively reducing greenhouse gasses on a greater scale than both landfilling and composting. #Composting #RenderingProcess #SustainableSolutions

As a result of the rendering process, valuable cropland is saved by reducing the amount of it required to cultivate “energy crops” like soybeans, a popular source of biofuel. By instead using rendering as an alternative in the production of biofuel, there’s less need for row crop farming in general, meaning less water usage and less labor — all while reducing food waste. #BioFuel #EnergyCrops #PlantRendering
