This week, ANHC joined fellow community health centers at the Alaska Legislative Fly-In to advocate for policies that strengthen access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for all Alaskans. Our team met with legislators to discuss the vital role of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in ensuring that individuals and families—regardless of income, insurance status, or background—receive the care they need. From expanding workforce pipelines to sustaining funding for essential services, we are committed to championing the needs of our patients and communities. A big thank you to Alaska Primary Care Association for organizing this important opportunity to engage with policymakers. Advocacy is a powerful tool for change, and ANHC will continue working to ensure every Alaskan has access to comprehensive, compassionate healthcare. 💙

As Alaska’s population ages, access to healthcare for Medicare patients is becoming an increasing concern. Many providers face challenges accepting Medicare due to reimbursement rates that don’t cover costs, leaving patients struggling to find care. At ANHC, 27% of our patients are on Medicare. ANHC CEO Lisa Aquino spoke with Alaska Public Media about our role in addressing these challenges and ensuring that all patients—regardless of their coverage—receive the care they need.
