Earlier this week, our own Women of Anaheim (WOA), represented Anaheim Police Department at the International Association of Chiefs of Police: Safety and Wellness Conference. The conference was held in Anaheim, with over 1,000 attendees from across the country. Our WOA team shared an inspiring presentation on the creation and purpose of WOA, which is an invaluable support group for our entire department. Their presentation was both motivating and highly praised! Very proud of our team!

  • Anaheim PD's Tourist Oriented Policing team had the incredible opportunity to not only attend but present at the MRC | Merchant Risk Council in Las Vegas! The conference had around 2,000 attendees from e-commerce payment businesses across the world, and their fraud awareness presentation pulled in over 127 attendees. Every year, MRC attendees express the need for stronger collaboration with law enforcement, and this year was no different. People were genuinely excited to see officers involved and eager to connect. TOP wasn’t just representing Anaheim PD; they were building bridges with international financial institutions, opening up networking opportunities that could be invaluable for combating fraud and financial crime.

  • Did you know, Anaheim PD has a Mounted Enforcement Unit!? As part of our commitment to community safety, our police horses patrol every district in Anaheim, ensuring we cover the entire city. Thanks to our Crime Analysis Unit and Community Policing Teams, the Mounted Unit targets areas with recurring issues reported by residents. Our horses can access places patrol cars can’t - while performing essential duties like traffic stops, arrests, and issuing citations. Last week, our Mounted Unit patrolled Beach Blvd, addressing trespassing and catching individuals using narcotics. They covered the railroad tracks between Euclid and Brookhurst, resulting in multiple trespassing contacts and warrant arrests. They later returned to the railroad tracks in search of an arson suspect. They also had a fantastic time at Roosevelt Elementary, sharing Anaheim’s history with third graders before heading out to patrol! If you ever see our horses around Anaheim, feel free to stop and take pictures with them! Use hashtag #APDHorses!

  • This past weekend was packed with major events, including the Disneyland Resort Half-Marathon, Anaheim Ducks game, and the Orange County Heritage Council 45th Annual Black History Parade & Unity Festival—and through it all, APD officers, volunteers, and professional staff worked tirelessly to keep our city safe and running smoothly. From managing traffic and ensuring public safety to engaging with the community, it was a total team effort for Anaheim PD. • January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Earlier this week we proudly stood with Olive Crest - Strong Families, Safe Kids and a coalition of leaders to launch a groundbreaking initiative across Southern California. This effort brings safety, vital services, and stable housing to minors impacted by sex trafficking-because every child deserves safety and hope. Chief Rick Armendariz among several speakers to introduce three new drop-in centers, including one in Anaheim, that will be life-changing for the most vulnerable among us. The Anaheim Police Department is proud to serve as the lead agency in the Orange County for the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF). Through the OCHTTF, we work collaboratively with nonprofit groups and community partners like Olive Crest to address trafficking. This is a fight we must win, and our department is committed to its success. To learn about the OCHTTF, go to https://lnkd.in/gKsxmn3f #protectourchildren #humantraffickingawareness #anaheimpolice
