We’ve taken a major step forward in modernizing our infrastructure with the awarding of the first of three key construction contracts for the Zoo to Paoli Electrification Transmission Line Program.? Earlier this year, the work at Bryn Mawr Substation was awarded to Vanalt Electrical Construction. Last week we selected HNTB to provide project and construction management support for the substation at Bryn Mawr and the Bryn Mawr to Paoli segment of the transmission line project. This multi-year initiative will upgrade the electrification system along an 18-mile section of track between the Zoo Substation in Philadelphia and the Paoli Substation in Chester County. Once completed, the upgraded system will deliver more reliable service for Amtrak’s Keystone Service, Pennsylvanian trains, and SEPTA’s Paoli Thorndale Line, including: ??? 330 new catenary structures ? New Transmission lines and Overhead Catenary System (OCS) ??? Installation of static wire and electric insulators?? Enhancements to the Bryn Mawr switching station for 138kV service??? Signal power system upgrades for system standardization from 3.3kV to 6.9kV??? Decommissioning of existing transmission lines and OCS structures ? This project represents a significant improvement in our infrastructure, benefiting passengers and operations alike.
