It's our Anniversary!!!
On June 23, 2024, AMSEL celebrated it's first anniversary as an inaugural association in the Commonwealth for "those who serve as equity leaders in schools with grades ranging from PK-12 or work in/for an Office of Equity in a school system"
During a time when DEI practitioners are being tested and positions eliminated (locally and nationally), we recognize the urgency to institutionally reinforce and support the work of diversity, equity and inclusion throughout our educational systems. We remain committed to our mission to "foster a collective sense of engagement, affirmation, and belonging... and to dismantle the institutional racism that institutions can produce and reproduce inequities and exclusion".
In the past year, our collective work has spanned from supporting district leaders as they navigated community challenges, advocating on behalf of policies and protocols that promote equitable systems and educator diversity, intentional partnering with equity-leading orgs and practitioners, co-hosting our first conference - in partnership with DESE, and much more. We are looking forward to sharing our end-of-year report with the public VERY SOON!
Our community is strong and we are excited about the foundation we have built and remain unwavering in our work ahead. Thank you to all of our partners and district leaders.
