In collaboration with Upgrade Energy, a US-based battery integrator, we’ve recently introduced a lightweight battery pack using Amprius SiCore cells designed to optimize drone flight time, enhance range, and ensure excellent power delivery within the consumer segment. ?? These packs feature energy densities starting at 285 Wh/kg and reaching as high as 365 Wh/kg, with discharge rates up to 5C continuous for use in a wide range of electric aircraft. ?Later this year, Upgrade Energy is planning to launch Amprius smart batteries, allowing operation in extreme environments, plug-and-play rapid charging, CAN communication, slide-in operation, and NDAA compliance. Today, we released our Q2 2024 Shareholder Letter that highlights our productive quarter. Some key points from the past few months: ??We have continued to focus on increasing our manufacturing throughput. In Q2, we took several steps forward to expand our production capacity for both SiMaxx and SiCore products. ??Amprius was awarded a $1.9 million contract from the US Army’s xTechPrime program to develop a large form factor 500 Wh/kg SiMaxx high-energy cell for #electricmobility applications in the defense sector. ??Our batteries were responsible for powering the University of Michigan Solar Car Team to a first-place finish in the #AmericanSolarChallenge. We are still so thrilled to have been a part of University of Michigan Solar Car Team winning last month's American Solar Challenge! ?? ??Read on to see what the team said about the impact our Amprius technology had on their solar car performance: "On the first day of the #FormulaSunGrandPrix, we took a corner too fast on our 18th lap. This brought the car into an unstable condition which caused it to roll. During the roll, our solar array and aerobody were damaged and had to be repaired, the battery however, remained in excellent condition. We were extremely happy to see that the battery had not only survived a car rollover, but needed almost no repairs to get back on the track. Beyond their robust mechanical packaging, the cells themselves were the real hero for the race. With a damaged array we were bringing in less power than normal, but the high capacity of the Amprius cells helped ensure that we could travel further than all other teams during the American Solar Challenge. #ASC also brought challenges like steep hills and high temperatures, but the cells handled high continuous discharge like a champ, running cool and reliably up even an 11.5% hill. Of course, this is all after the same battery pack raced in the World Solar Challenge. Even after months of transport and a bit more cycling, we saw very little degradation of the pack.
