LinkedIn: Normalize researching the company you'll work with. And normalize quitting toxic work environments. Yes, loyalty or financial security can keep you there. But let's be honest: persistent mental abuse stifles happiness and productivity, even beyond the workplace. You may not worry about the psychological abuse at first. Because you need to pay the bills and want to be loyal. But there's only so much a person can take. Eventually, you'll get to a point where you'll realize the right job with better pay and respect for mental health is within reach. The truth about ‘titles’ on LinkedIn - they’re great for getting noticed, but that’s about it. Here’s what a good title CAN do: - Improve your SEO on LinkedIn - Indicate the experiences you’ve had - Indicate the level you’re qualified for - Get you discovered by the right people - Communicate key skills But let’s be real, Titles, responsibilities, and authority level can vary heavily company-to-company. What a Director does at company A, might be totally different from what a Director does at Company B. Secondly, Anyone (especially online) can write literally anything about themselves. And I’m all for that. Brand yourself however your want. But Hiring Managers are generally held to a higher standard - this is why title alone isn’t enough evidence, and why interviews are so important to vet out experiences, skills, and impact. So go ahead - put the title that works for you. Just make sure you can justify it when it comes time to interview. Happy job searching!
