True leadership involves active listening! ?? It's not just about the voices in your curated inner circle but connecting directly with employees at every level to truly understand what's happening on the frontlines.?You get a better pulse on what's working and what's not, with context, during focused conversations (in a way that canned surveys don't provide). Early in my career, I learned the power of becoming a trusted ear for ALL employees. When they know you genuinely care about their experience and are committed to taking action on what they share, they'll open up freely. That’s when you can make real, impactful changes. Leaders can easily become disconnected from the day-to-day, but opening the floor for honest insights and being present in these conversations is a game changer. It’s all about building sincere relationships.?It's not easy, it's earned. Thasunda Brown Duckett gets it. Check out this brief article where she dives into the importance of listening to your teams at all levels to stay connected.??#leadership #HR #strategy #engagement #consulting Find this insightful? I often explain these distinctions to clients and colleagues to ensure misnomers are not interchangeably applied in business settings. @ginny_clarke effectively breaks this concept down in 1 min. Check it out! Take note that the ability to develop a vision and share a strategy despite ambiguity is a talent. Using influence to inspire and mobilize others to execute such innovation is not about a title or deploying transactional tactics. Leadership qualities can be developed, but be mindful who you freely assign the label of leader to, without merit. #HR #strategy #leadership #development #selfawareness AmplifiHER, LLC

The Leadership Legacy: What We Can Learn from Olympic Greats The Paris 2024 Olympic Games had many of us glued to our screens for 17 thrilling days, watching the world’s best athletes compete at the highest level. This event showcases what happens when discipline, dedication, and sheer talent converge on the world’s biggest stage. Yes, there are exceptions to every rule (*looking at you, Breakdancing*), but by and large, each nation proudly sends its best to represent their strength, skill, and spirit. One of the most fascinating aspects is watching Olympians “fan out” over their peers—cheering on competitors with a level of respect and admiration that only comes from knowing what it takes to be the best. Witnessing records shatter and legendary careers wind down isn’t just inspiring, it’s a masterclass in leadership. Leadership & Athleticism: The Perfect Parallel In business, just as in sports, true greatness is about more than just winning. It’s about leaving a legacy. It’s about being the kind of leader whose impact is felt long after they’ve left the game. To be a phenom in your field requires the same level of discipline, dedication, agility and consistency we see in Olympians. More than that, it requires making contributions so groundbreaking that they change the game entirely. Nike’s "Winning isn’t for everyone" might seem controversial at first glance, but there’s truth in it. Not everyone is destined to be the GOAT. Simone Biles, Katie Ledecky, LeBron James, Novak Djokovic these athletes shine brighter than the rest because they push the boundaries of their sport. Winning at the highest level, repeatedly, is not for everyone, & that’s OK. It’s what makes these individuals stand out. In your organization, you likely have a few of these elite gems. They’re the ones who drive your mission forward, push for next-level performance, and hold themselves and others accountable. They’re the ones who, whether they know it or not, have a fan club of followers who aspire to be in their orbit. Building Your Business Olympian Team So, if you were to build your own team of elite business Olympians, do you know who you’d select? Do you have a clear understanding of who your top leaders are now—and who will step into their shoes? If not, it’s time to get serious about identifying and nurturing these leaders. Invest in their growth, stretch their capabilities, and watch as they demonstrate greatness under pressure. If you’re unsure of who they are, start by looking for those setting the standard for excellence. If they’re already on your team, they just need support to reach their full potential. Let’s keep the conversation going. Who are some of the other Olympic greats you’d add to this list of elite athletes? Drop your thoughts in the comments, and if you’re ready to make strategic planning, career succession, or leadership development a priority, let’s connect. Your future business Olympians are waiting to be discovered. AmplifiHER, LLC

The most successful people have already cracked the code. Time is not only money, it is also finite. Try not to get bogged down engaging in transactional activities that don't propel initiatives forward. Avoid expending energy on distractions that are not the highest and best use of your time. Carefully assess where your time is best spent, and prioritize those items. Everything else can be delegated, declined, or delayed accordingly. It is a game changer to recognize and apply this logic consistently in your decision making. #HR #strategy #leadership AmplifiHER, LLC

As the hectic school year came to a close, my MiniMi and I proudly earned straight A's to wrap up our spring semester. We make quite the studious "dynamic (mother-daughter) duo." While she sleeps in, I am engaging in doctoral program research and focusing on client deliverables. Make no mistake, we are both excited for a fun-filled summer with travel at the top of the list. ?????? Today, we'll just chill. For those of you hitting milestone moments in your lives, congrats to you for prioritizing and pursuing your version of happiness. #progressnotperfection #summervibes #outside #leadbyexample AmplifiHER, LLC

Many can relate to the weekly rollercoaster of moods in the visual. It's the start of a new week, remember that each day offers a new opportunity to create a positive work environment. Leaders, this is your gentle reminder to check in with your team regularly. Observe the energy around you and be mindful of the shadow you cast. Productivity is just as important as ensuring teammates feel supported and valued. Every interaction counts. Aim to sustain a consistent, positive presence—it’s contagious! Embrace gratitude every day, not just when the weekend is approaching. Aim to be the catalyst that transforms your workplace culture into a space where you and others look forward to coming in and making a valuable contribution every day, not just on Friday. #TGIM #MindfulMonday #Leadership #HR #Strategy #DEI AmplifiHER, LLC

The journey toward gender parity reveals a crucial but often overlooked aspect: the Dream Gap. This term captures a pervasive issue affecting young girls globally, shaping their beliefs about their abilities. The Dream Gap isn't fueled by a lack of self-confidence or ambition, it's rooted in the subtle social stereotypes, biases and norms that may discourage girls from exploring. It's not just about encouraging girls to dream big; it's about altering the environment that shapes or stifles these dreams. John W. Fraser III shared this clip with me recently, noting that someone's response to this montage was, "all girls don't want to do things that are STEM related". While that may be true, they seemingly missed the point at the core of the message. The conditioning of young girls to not even consider engaging in STEM activities is a nuanced, limiting pattern of societally imposed barriers that must stop. The Barbie Dream Gap Project continues to be at the forefront of this global mission, but the responsibility doesn't just lie with organizations; it's on us. We must be the change agents in our communities, families, and circles of influence that free them from restrictive thoughts. It's about affirming their dreams and challenging them through exposure to expand and enrich their cognizance of what is possible. My 2023 Lake County, 1st Place in Engineering, Science Fair winner daughter can attest to the motto that we live by. “We can do it all” ...and if we don't know how to do something, today (we confidently say) "we don’t know how, YET, but we will learn". What are you doing to affirm the next generation sees limitless opportunities are available to explore? Share your thoughts in the comments. #Leadership #HR #Strategy #DEI #GirlPower AmplifiHER, LLC
