It was a privilege to showcase our AMPATH Kenya and AMPATH Nepal partnerships, featuring experts from Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences, Moi University, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, and Mount Sinai. Together, we explored cutting-edge healthcare innovations, shared insights, and discussed the future of nursing science. Today the Consortium of Universities for Global Health honored @Indiana University's Dr. Adrian Gardner with the 2025 Dr. Tom Hall-Dr. Nelson Sewankambo Mid-Career Leadership Award for his leadership and commitment to global health equity. Dr. Gardner is associate dean for global health at Indiana University School of Medicine, director of the IU Center for Global Health Equity and executive director of the AMPATH Global Consortium of 16 academic health centers working in partnership with Moi University and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kenya, as well as partners in Ghana, Mexico and Nepal. The Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) invites abstract submissions for the 11th National Summit of Health and Population Scientists in Nepal, scheduled from 10-12 April 2025. The summit will be held under the theme “Health, Climate, and Population Dynamics: Building Resilient Health Systems for a Sustainable and Equitable Future." NHRC, as the leading authority for health research in Nepal, has been organizing these annual summits since 2015 to foster dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and development partners in the healthcare and population sectors. The goal is to promote research and evidence-based decision-making and strengthen collaboration within the healthcare communities. https://lnkd.in/dNYeJKhE

AMPATH Kenya hosted the first AMPATH Global educational exchange by inviting Dr. Sumisti Shakya, an OB/GYN and second-year fellow in high-risk pregnancy at Dhulikhel Hospital in Nepal, to rotate with the Moi University maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) fellows Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. Dr. Sumisti shared about her experience completing a 4-week rotation in Eldoret, Kenya. Dr. Sumisti’s main goal during the elective was to gain experience in managing a broad range of high-risk obstetric cases. "I wanted to develop my skills in handling complex pregnancies and apply what I learn to my practice back home in Nepal," she noted. The elective provided her with a diverse array of cases that expanded her understanding of global maternal health. We were honored to host the Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli of Nepal at Mount Sinai, where we celebrated our AMPATH Nepal partnership and the significant impact of our initiatives in the country. The Prime Minister delivered a keynote address, recognizing our efforts in advancing healthcare in Nepal. Established in 2022, the AMPATH Nepal partnership focuses on strategic priorities including non-communicable diseases, subspecialty care development, women's and child health, adolescent health, and the advancement of research and education programs. Incredible day of potential with the Concordia Summit and Clinton Global Initiative — and so many world leaders at the UN in NYC! We are all honored to share how the Arnhold Institute for Global Health at Mount Sinai supports partnerships that can improve access to high quality healthcare for all, and I am proud to be with our incredible teams at both meetings.

Our session panel today at the Concordia Summit. We discussed building wordclass ecosystems to improve global health and establishing a primary healthcare system. Our work in Guyana includes working with the government of Guyana on primary care delivery, health workforce analysis and training, youth health, and data protection. Our panel featured His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, Rachel Vreeman, MD, MS, Director of the Arnhold Institute for Global Health, John Hess, CEO of Hess Corporation and Brendan G. Carr, MD, MA, MS, CEO at Mount Sinai, as the moderator.
