Cohort 2 just wrapped up an inspiring month, highlighted by a transformative mental health session and retreat designed to empower our young leaders through art and sound therapies grounded in science. ???? Together, we tackled major mental health challenges affecting our community—like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and how generational cycles shape our family dynamics. ?? By equipping our leaders with essential strategies and resources, they are now empowered to not only strengthen their own well-being but also uplift and inspire those around them. ?????? One powerful moment was smashing pi?atas filled with words that represented self-limiting beliefs—symbolically breaking free from negativity that’s been holding them back. ?? Then, they painted the Sagrado Corazón, representing their journey through love, hope, faith, pain, sacrifice, and strength. ????? To close this reflective experience, we guided the cohort through a calming sound bath meditation, allowing their minds to find peace and release stress. ????♀?? At the end of our retreat, each girl took home a special poster donated by @vivalabonita, serving as a reminder of their true power and worth. ? Today is Latina Equal Pay Day, a reminder of the gap we fight to close. Did you know that Latinas earn only 51 cents for every dollar a white man makes? ?? That's why at Amor Movement, we emphasize the power of salary negotiation with our young leaders. ?? Wrapping up an impactful first month with Cohort 2! ?? In September, we explored the importance of healthy relationships and setting boundaries that honor our worth. ?? We wrapped up the month with an eye-opening tour of @juliancenter, led by their amazing Outreach Advocate, Valentina Montes. We learned about their history, the resources they offer, and the vital support they provide to those escaping domestic violence. As we move into October—Domestic Violence Awareness Month—we’re more committed than ever to spreading awareness, empowering change, and reminding ourselves how essential these conversations are! We also had the honor of meeting Dominic, Founder & Executive Director of @mujeresconectadas, who shared the incredible work her organization is doing. She reminded us that building healthy relationships and community is the foundation of success and that true success comes from lifting each other up. ?
