Today we had a fantastic Long Island Yom Iyun event. Close to 120 women were in attendance from a variety of our communities. Our own Miriam Coren, principal of the AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga High School in Beit Shemesh was the keynote speaker. She spoke passionately about AMIT and delivered a well thought out lecture that was both scholarly and inspiring.

A new generation rises amidst pain and terror. Uriah Golima of the AMIT Torani Madai Elementary School in Sderot, was one of 32 girls celebrating their Bat Mitzvot in an extraordinary event put on by the school, in conjunction with the Sderot municipality. Uriah’s story is one of the many bittersweet stories that have come out since the 7th of October massacre. Her father, Shmuel Golima Z”l, was a senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the police force, and fell in battle against the Hamas terrorists on October 7th. Having discussed exciting plans for how they will celebrate Uriah’s special day only the night before, Shmuel sprang into action Shabbat morning upon hearing alarms go off. Despite trying to save the lives of others, Shmuel was fatally hit by gun fire. Despite the hardships of losing her father, Uriah’s response is one of resilience. She tells us “…I don't forget what happened, but I try to look forward and live life, just as he would have wanted." We wish Uriah and all the girls a massive mazal tov, and wish them the best as they continue their journey building the future of Am Yisrael. #togetherwecan #riseup #positivevibes

After a year of tribulations and uncertainty, Assaf Ben David, the principal of the AMIT Sderot Religious High School, along with the whole management team and teachers, decided to end the year with a 2-day journey of strength. Day 1 of the journey from Sderot to Jerusalem began with a talk from the commander of the Sderot police station and continued along the path of heroes from Biblical times till today. It culminated at the Jerusalem theater for a show led by students with the participation of various dignitaries and a concert starring Chanan Ben Ari. Day 2 began at Mount Herzl, continued with a talk by Rabbanit Yamima, visiting Ammunition Hill, the Museum of Underground Prisoners, the Spring Trail, and the Time Elevator (a journey back in time through the history of Jerusalem). It ended with a march to the Western Wall and a closing ceremony. We wish all our students and graduates a wonderful summer, and look forward to a better year ahead. photos by ???? ??? #chananbenari #Jerusalem #strength

AMIT mourns the death of Rabbi Elon Weiss Z"l, a beloved and loving educator at the AMIT Eitan Ma’ale Adumim High School. Rabbi Elon, a 10th grade teacher, was a central figure in the school, a role model for his students and colleagues. Daniel Barry, Principal of AMIT Ma'ale Adumim, says that "AMIT Eitan was Rabbi Elon's second home. Education was the center of his life and he saw the empowerment of each student as the fulfillment of a dream. He loved his students very much and gave his life for them, just as he gave his life for the people of Israel. Our hearts go out to his beloved family and his students. His amazing character will be with us forever." Dr. Amnon Eldar, CEO of AMIT, says that Rabbi Elon's life was a life of giving. "He fell after volunteering for reserve duty and went to war even though he was exempt. His whole life was a life of responsibility for the people of Israel out of a desire to give, contribute, and work for society and the country. He will be a role model for generations and we will work to perpetuate his memory. We embrace all of his beloved family and all of AMIT Eitan." #staystrongtogether #amyisrael #hero
