The FATF Plenary Outcomes have been announced. In the UK, Enhanced Due Diligence is now obligatory when undertaking business with a person established in Nepal or Laos, EDD is no longer obligatory (but may well still be advisable) in the case of the Philippines. While such changes are almost inevitable following any plenary, what I believe is more interesting is the welcome revision of FATF standards to better support financial inclusion, encouraging further adoption of a risk-based approach to allow access to financial services. To me, this is as relevant across the wider regulated sector - I would encourage legal practices and all regulated firms to look hard at their risk-based approach too - to break down barriers and ensure fair and equitable access to those that may otherwise struggle to engage essential services. This just makes good business sense and it's something Amiqus are both proud of and passionate about, demonstrated through our work partnering with the Scottish Refugee Council Congratulations also to HM Treasury's Giles Thomson , who becomes the FATF's next Vice-President - a significant appointment as the UK ramps up preparations for the 5th round of mutual evaluations, and at a critical time across an increasingly unstable world.
