Bam!! This is what the #biomanufacturing industry has been waiting for. 200+ pages of recommendations for US Congress and The White House to take action to promote and support bioproducts in the US, from research to production and distribution, including funds for training and workforce development. Large $$$ asks for local biomanufacturing capacity and direct investments in the sector. A watershed moment for many biotech companies and buyers of bioproducts. Thank you, Michelle Rozo, Alexander Titus, Paul Arcangeli and others for leaning in and spending months working on this report. Can’t wait to see what the rest of of the year will look like for the sector.

“This report makes clear that America must be the leader in all aspects of the ag bioeconomy, including innovation in bioproducts. Standing by as other countries make strategic investments threatening that American leadership is not an option,” said John Bode, President and CEO of the Corn Refiners Association. https://lnkd.in/e--Ufn4x

Precision fermentation is revolutionizing multiple industries, but which application is the next big market disruptor? In our report with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), we estimate that by 2040, scaling up industrial precision fermentation can represent a $200 billion opportunity across the specialty chemicals (est. $50 billion), food (est. $100 billion), and chemical precursors (est. $50 billion) markets. This estimate is about 7x of its current market size and will only be attainable if companies build enough production capacity to lower costs. To serve this growing market, we'll need to develop standardized biofoundries, with construction focusing on higher-margin, lower-volume molecules first. Biofoundries are facilities that can provide at least 2 million liters of capacity, achieving commercial economics and bridging the cost gap for non-pharma bioproducts by reducing unit costs by about 50%. For more on what it will take to unlock this $200 billion opportunity in precision fermentation, check out our full report with BCG: https://lnkd.in/eZ96CkjR Scaling precision fermentation starts with the right partners. The #FeedingTheEconomy2025 report shows the food and agriculture industries support $2.8 trillion in U.S. wages and continue to grow year over year. However, wages have failed to keep pace with inflation, reflecting nationwide economic stressors and the high cost of labor for employers. Learn more in the full report: https://brnw.ch/21wRqVr

Can America lead the 21st-century biorevolution, or will it fall behind? A new report, “Make America the Biopower” by Vivek Chilukuri, lays out a roadmap for U.S. leadership in biotechnology through investment in biomanufacturing, regulatory reform, and biodata innovation. The report highlights key priorities for the administration to strengthen the bioeconomy: 1) Develop a national biotech strategy to set clear long-term goals and secure America’s leadership. 2) Build a robust biomanufacturing base to support defense needs, supply chains, and economic resilience. 3) Streamline regulations by consolidating oversight and standardizing biotech definitions. 4) Unleash the power of biodata while ensuring security and privacy. At Synonym, we believe that a thriving bioeconomy starts with the right infrastructure. Our work in building biomanufacturing infrastructure and production capabilities through techno-economic analysis (TEA) is helping innovators bring cutting-edge solutions to market faster.
