Meet AMFP Colorado - Association of Medical Facility Professionals Colorado Vice President Dan Coxall. We are happy to have you on our Board and we appreciate all of your contributions to #AMFPColorado! Q: What brought you to the healthcare industry? A: My path to the healthcare industry was brought on by luck and happenstance.?I was working in the Air Force stationed at Lowry when it was an Air Force Base (but the runways had long been decommissioned).?My work schedule in the FD left a lot of free time.?I was building homes in Highlands Ranch and Golden in that free time.?The friend that I was working with was offered a role at Rose Medical Center to start-up an “in-house” construction department and he asked me to follow him there.?I started at Rose helping establish and the run that department, went on the become the Director of facilities and PDC.?I left Rose after 16 years and have moved into several other roles all within the healthcare space since departing there. Q: If the sky was the limit and the budget was unlimited, what would your dream be for the healthcare environment/industry? A: Ultimately I would love to see accessible and equitable healthcare for everyone, that everyone could receive the healthcare they needed, when they needed it.?I would also like to see it where the health insurance industry was more collaborative with the healthcare providers.?The financial challenges that hospitals and providers face are real and yet I continue to hear of huge profits on the health insurance side.?Where there was much more funding and focus on the research and precision medicine realms to identify the root causes of disease and remediate them. There’s so much to unpack here but if the sky were the limit, that the schools of medicine, nursing, dental, pharmacy, etc. were tuition free, that there were unlimited funding for research and the further development of precision medicine, and that hospitals were actually reimbursed for the cost of work and support to be able to provide accessible and equitable healthcare. Q: What’s your favorite way to de-stress or decompress? A: For me my places to destress/decompress have always been outside.?Biking, hiking, camping, fishing, etc.?Being an introvert I enjoy my alone time where/when I can clear my mind.? Q: Share a fun fact about yourself. A: I recently hiked up Angel’s Landing in Zion and completed the Via Ferrata in Ouray and I’m training to hike the Grand Canyon, “Rim to Rim in one day” this fall. ?
