?? We recently undertook a project focused on the port engine of a Twin-Screw Landing Craft vessel. The main task was a feeler gauge alignment of the port engine to its reduction gear, following the engine's replacement due to overheating. Upon arrival, we addressed previously removed non-drive end chocks and executed the following tasks: - Conducted a feeler gauge alignment of the port engine to its reduction gear. -Measured the Total Indicator Runout (T.I.R.) of the port propeller shaft at 0.013”, aligning within the tolerance of 0.001” per inch of diameter. - Constructed dams and poured new epoxy chocks beneath the non-drive mounting brackets. - And identified a void in the outboard reduction gear bracket Chockfast. #amesolutions1992 #mechanicalengineeringrepair #technicalprojects #vesselmaintenance #twinscrewvessel

When it comes to engine performance, don't ignore the signs. ?? During a recent Windrock Engine Performance survey, we found that one of the diesel engines experienced increased vibration levels at 700 rpm, triggering a high vibration alarm. Our recommendations? Inspect the vertical drive shaft, check the vibration dampers, and conduct advanced vibration testing.
