Great experience taking Americus Energy & US Solar Supplier to Indianapolis and D.C. for the inaugurations with A10 Associates! The energy sector is at a crossroads, with challenges driving innovation. Key takeaways: - Solar tax credits remain intact for now despite uncertainty. - Domestic energy focus prioritizes oil, gas, and coal but opens doors for renewables to step up. - Data centers will drive soaring energy demand—solar and storage are critical. - Trade policies may increase tariffs but could boost domestic solar manufacturing. Honored to celebrate Indiana Gov. Mike Braun and connect with leaders like Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Andre Carson, who reaffirm that energy is a bipartisan necessity. #EnergyFuture #InnovationLeadership #Solar

A December report from SEIA and Wood Mackenzie says that U.S. solar module factories are now equipped to meet nearly all domestic demand. Will the new supply chain be ready to balance against incoming tariffs? https://lnkd.in/dt5nPbak

The shift towards solar energy is also contributing to the diversification of the U.S. energy mix. By 2025, renewable energy's overall share of electricity generation is expected to rise to 26%, while natural gas is projected to drop from 42% in 2023 to 41% in 2025. Source: Utility Dive

This is one of the reasons I'm optimistic about the energy transition. We tend to underestimate the rate of change and what we can achieve. For example, in December 2020 Xi Jinping set a target for China to have 1,200 GW of wind and solar installed by 2030. Back then this was an unimaginably large number. It wasn't far off how much wind and solar the entire world had ever installed. China smashed through that target in mid-2024, taking just 3.5 years instead of 10. The IEA has been a serial offender in this space, consistently over conservative in its forecasts for the global uptake of solar PV. On average, the world has been installing 3x as much solar as the IEA's 5-year forecasts predicted. In many years the IEA forecast that the capacity installed the following year would be less than installed in the current year. This has almost never happened. And it's not just solar. Clean energy technologies in general have scaled far more rapidly than predicted by modellers. Onwards and upwards! Original concept is from Auke Hoekstra. This chart is from The Economist, using data from IEA and the Energy Institute. The 2024 number is a BNEF estimate. #energy #sustainability #renewables #energytransition

American businesses are all racing to install #solar and #storage… but who is #1?? First, some background?? Today, SEIA released its 2024 Solar Means Business report. #SolarMeansBiz tracks solar energy and energy storage adoption by businesses across the U.S. and produces a ranked list of the top solar adopters. Each year, the corporate solar sector grows and, this year, U.S. businesses eclipsed 40 gigawatts of onsite and off-site solar capacity. That’s about 15 Hoover Dams worth of electricity, generated specifically for U.S. companies. Why are so many corporations turning to solar? Because solar = savings! That’s what it’s about for these businesses. Solar produces cheap electricity and that saves them money on their bottom line. Then, when you add the fact solar is flexible and dispatchable, it’s obvious why some of the largest industrial and data operations in the world continue turning to solar and storage as a reliable, low-cost way to power their operations. What I love most is that these industry giants are using solar for a diverse range of applications: onsite, off-site, carports, EV chargers, paired with storage, some are even becoming anchor tenants for a local community solar project. So which company has installed the most solar? […drumroll…] It's Meta Platforms. With 5.2 gigawatts of solar in operation. While Meta is #1 for total installed capacity, I want to give a shoutout to Google for having the most #storage capacity with 936 MWh. Congratulations to Amazon who has a nation-leading 13.6 GW of new solar procurements under contract and to Target for having the most onsite solar of any company in the U.S. I love a bit of friendly competition in these ranking because, when solar is the race, we’re all winners?? As we close up the week and look forward to an upcoming administration transition, I’d like to share some of the insight we’ve learned from our trusted allies and sources involved in the transition. ?? Some things we've learned: ? 1.?Continued Support for Solar: We have strong Republican allies in the solar industry who are actively?advocating for solar initiatives and domestic content tax credits.? 2. Domestic Content Bonus: This bonus is expected to stay in some form due to its importance in U.S. job creation, manufacturing, and grid resilience.? 3. REAP Program Stability: The REAP program is considered safe due to its role in supporting small businesses and rural communities.? 4. Trade Law Changes: We could see more immediate changes in trade policies, including 60% added import duties on Chinese products. ? In the coming days and weeks, as we learn more, we look forward to being at the forefront of new policy, navigating these changes, and achieving a bright future together. ? Is solar panel recycling illusion or a reality that can make an industry built on sustainability....more sustainable? On the heels of @trinasolar announcing the first fully recyclable 645W PV module last month - many are still bemoaning the high costs and effort behind staying circular in operations. If you're SOLARCYCLE -- solar recycling company, you skipped the middle man and put it right into action. They've installed an on-site solar farm made of reused solar panels that will power their industrial solar panel recycling facility. The reused panels come from decommissioned utility-scale solar farms and residential installations across the United States. SOLARCYCLE says the project serves as a model of how to power an industrial facility through renewable energy as the US ramps up domestic manufacturing capacity. It will also help to build a fully closed loop, ultra-low carbon solar industry in America. The 500KW system made from around 1,000 reused panels will provide around 50% of the electricity SOLARCYCLE uses to power their advanced recycling factory in Odessa, Texas.
