In November, AmeriCorps members gathered to share their impactful work helping students navigate the college application process, complete FAFSA forms, secure Bright Futures scholarships, and recover credits for graduation. They also discussed their highs, lows, and wins this month at the school sites. Their collective efforts continue to make a lasting difference in students' academic journeys and future opportunities.

The Jones College and Career Center organized an on-campus career fair for its students. Students had the opportunity to discover new career paths and connect with community members. Our team was delighted to contribute to the planning and organization of the event.

National Scholarship Month is a time to raise awareness about the importance of scholarships and to encourage students, parents, and educators to take advantage of scholarship opportunities. The month aims to highlight the financial assistance available to help students reduce the cost of college, vocational schools, and other educational pursuits. Scholarships play a key role in making higher education more affordable and reducing student debt. In fact, each year, the U.S. Department of Education and colleges & universities award an estimated $95 billion in grants and scholarships — with $60 billion coming directly from colleges themselves. ?? However, many students miss out on free financial aid opportunities. In the 2019-2020 academic year, $9.5 billion in Pell Grants alone went unclaimed! Don't leave money on the table. Last week, AmeriCorps members and alumni came together to volunteer at the annual Lights On Afterschool event, a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs. This event emphasizes the crucial role that community programs play in providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children once the school day ends. Through activities, games, and interactive sessions, volunteers and program leaders demonstrated the positive impact of afterschool programs in nurturing students' social, emotional, and academic growth. Lights On Afterschool serves as a reminder of the importance of accessible, quality programming that not only keeps kids safe but also inspires learning and creativity beyond the classroom. ??
