Earlier this week during the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association’s annual meeting in Santa Fe, API President and CEO Mike Sommers talked about the importance of American energy leadership – for the U.S. and the rest of the world – during a period of global uncertainty. Washington has an important role to play in sustaining and growing that leadership, with sound policies that support American oil and natural gas production. Our industry is in it for the long haul, and whoever wins on Election Day must make smart choices that recognize the value of America’s energy advantage – whose foundation is domestic oil and natural gas production. Together, we can imagine a future in which U.S. energy leadership powers our homes and fuels our dreams. Our industry’s innovations will light the path for the world to follow. Senior Vice President, Communications for the American Petroleum Institute. Proud to work for the people powering our economy, driving innovation and strengthening national security.
Friends and colleagues: Over the past seven plus years at Western States Petroleum Association and for a decade or two more while at agencies, I have been lucky to work with, for and around the American oil, gas and energy industry. During this time, I have seen first-hand the expertise and passion of the innovators, leaders and hard-working, optimistic problem solvers in this industry. These are the folks who will do the hard work to build the energy future we need, one that works for all of us. I am proud to continue this work from Washington D.C. as I am starting today as the Senior Vice President, Communications for the API - American Petroleum Institute Petroleum Institute. How lucky am I to get to do work I believe so strongly about from a national perspective? Thank you to the team members and partners at WSPA for trusting me though the years and preparing me for this opportunity, and to the leadership at API - American Petroleum Institute for bringing me east to join the team. Of course, none of this happens without my family who support this big change and will share this adventure with me. Looking forward to the work ahead.

With Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump both acknowledging during last week's debate the essentiality of U.S. energy leadership – each making the case that American oil and natural gas are important to America’s energy security and economic future – four follow-up questions to help clarify the candidates’ specific energy policy positions: ? First, how will they leverage America’s abundant oil and natural gas resources? ? Second, how will they fix a broken federal permitting system that is holding back needed infrastructure construction? ? Third, when will the ongoing pause on permitting for American liquefied natural gas exports be lifted? ? Fourth, will they protect Americans from onerous government mandates that effectively take away their vehicle choices? More here: https://lnkd.in/e3k_RJrk

Natural gas is an ideal power-generating source for data centers, which need a reliable, low-emissions fuel source for electricity generation. With 90% of the world’s data having been created in the past two years, the need for data centers is more important than ever. As a result, so is the need for natural gas. https://lnkd.in/efybHQXD
